According to sources, former Bears centre Olin Kreutz grabbed the neck of CHGO colleague Adam Hoge in retaliation for a sarcastically made remark on Monday, May 2, costing Kreutz his analyst job at the sports-media startup.
The altercation is said to have started during a staff meeting at CHGO’s West Loop headquarters after Hoge made a remark that irritated Kreutz. There have been no charges filed, and no police report has been filed.
Kreutz’s dismissal was announced on CHGO’s situation report.
“On Monday morning, Olin Kreutz assaulted a CHGO employee in a physical altercation. Olin Kreutz is no longer with CHGO, effective immediately. Although the incident shocked us, we are grateful that the employee is unharmed.
Kreutz is well-known for his Bears analysis, having played for the team from 1998 to 2010. He’s developed into a sharp, thoughtful critic of the team, appearing on 670 The Score and NBC Sports Chicago regularly. The night before the incident, he appeared on NBC 5’s “Sports Sunday.”
